Ted Nelson was directly inspired by the Memex and in 1963 Nelson came up with the concept of, Hypertext and Hypermedia. The word Hypertext comes from the Greek prefix hyper meaning "over" or "beyond." Hypertext is text that is displayed on an electronic device such as a smart phone, computer, Lap top, or a tablet device etc. Hypertext is what web pages consist of and a web page may have tables and images. Hypertext has links/hyperlinks to other hypertext and can be accessed at the click of a mouse or button.
